Hartz Dog Treats Recalled Over Salmonella

7 09 2010

I’m personally not a fan of Hartz products, but for those who have picked them up, please take note of this recall.

Don’t reward your dog a Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treat from a bag stamped with lot code BZ0969101E, says the FDA, unless you want a potentially confused dog.

Hartz says salmonella has been found in at least one bag from that lot, so it’s recalling nearly 75,000 bags.

So far no one has reported any sick pets, but if you have questions you can call Hartz at 1-800-275-1414.

The product shipped in 8-oz bags and had the UPC 32700-11519.
For more info, visit the FDA website to read the latest Firm Press Release.

The Tale of Mercy

2 09 2010

I just received info on this little rescue, named Mercy. She was pulled from a rural shelter in Quebec.
She’s safe in foster care now.

Mercy is a boxer estimated to be about 1 year old.  She stands about 14 inches tall and weighs 19lbs.

She is currently a medical mystery, but many vets are working on her case to figure out what has gone wrong along the way.   You can check out her Blog and follow her progress at:

Dobermans’ For Adoption!

31 08 2010

Please keep in mind that I’ve put these together as courtesy posts – I have nothing directly to do with these rescues/organizations.
I just want to help get the word out, and hopefully help find forever homes for these amazing dogs that need to be given a second chance.

Please cross-post, resend & share!

Rambo

More About Rambo

UPDATED PHOTOS TO FOLLOW SHORTLY Adopted from Kiko when he was 8 months old, Rambo is now 2 years of age and once again looking for a new family through no fault of his own. He was very loved by his adopters but a serious motorcycle accident left Rambo’s caregivers no choice but to ask for Kiko’s help in rehoming him. Rambo enjoys the company of other dogs and would probably do best in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time. If you love Dobermans and have experience with the breed, Rambo would love to meet you.

Remi

More About Remi

This is a courtesy post.

Remi is a lovely dog, very sweet and gentle.  He has some physical problems, we think due to some old injuries, but he gets around just fine. He absolutely loves to play with toys, and loves to roll in the grass.

Remi is approximately 6 1/2 years old.

Please note that the animals in our program are available for adoption only to individuals located in the Region of Durham area; however we are always happy to refer you to a rescue or shelter in your area. Thank you for your understanding.

Indy

More About Indy

Indy is about 18 months old, red female, cropped & docked. She will be spayed and have her shots brought up to date prior to placement. Poor Indy was found as a stray and sent to a high-kill shelter in Quebec. We were able to get her out the day before she was due to be gassed. Her foster home reports she is crate trained, seems eager to please, good with other dogs. We would prefer a home with no cats and no small children. Indy does seem to have a high prey-drive and is learning to manage that but it will take time.
Home without cats preferred

Big Red

More About BIG RED

CONFIDENT and REGAL

Big Red is about 3 to 4 years old, typical dobie in his personality. He is a big baby, very active, and sensitive. Big Red is best as an only dog or with a submissive female dog. He is a gorgeous colour, and beautiful lines. We will give preference to an adopter with dobie experience. Big Red would do best in a home where he receives the attention and daily exercise he needs, as well as a fully fenced yard.

Big Red is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, dewormed, treated with Revolution, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $390 and a health record will go home with him.

To meet Big Red, send in the “Adoption Application” on the left side of our website at www.allbreedcaninerescue.petfinder.com
